Actual proof that bad things happen to really bad people: JOY REID FIRED BY MSNBC

MSNBC canceled Joy Reid’s primetime show, The ReidOut, as part of a broader programming shakeup led by new network president Rebecca Kutler. The decision followed a steep decline in viewership—down nearly 50% since Donald Trump’s election win in November 2024—and came amid a strategic overhaul to boost the network’s lagging ratings behind Fox News. Reid’s final episode aired the week of February 24-28, ending her five-year run in the 7 p.m. slot, which will be replaced by a panel show featuring Symone Sanders Townsend, Alicia Menendez, and Michael Steele.
Reid’s tenure was marked by frequent controversy, particularly her provocative rhetoric often accused of stoking racial division. Critics pointed to her pattern of targeting white people with inflammatory remarks, such as calling Senator Mark Kelly a “mayonnaise sandwich on Wonder Bread” and alleging Trump would deport all “brown people,” regardless of legal status. These statements, alongside earlier comments dismissing “anti-white racism” while decrying white voters, fueled accusations of racism and hatred toward white people.
Her defenders saw her as a bold progressive voice, but detractors argued her rhetoric alienated viewers and reflected a broader toxicity that MSNBC could no longer sustain amid declining audiences and a shifting media landscape. While the network cited no specific reason beyond the overhaul, Reid’s polarizing style likely played a role in her exit.
